Increasing resilience
Resilience training is learning how to empower yourself mentally and physically so that you can act appropriately in case of transgressive behaviour. Martial arts are used as a learning tool.

Course content:
– What is transgressive behavior and how does it relate to you?
– Review strategies of transgressive behavior?
– How to act on transgressive behavior.
– Working self-confidence and self-esteem.

Experiential learning:
I use exercises, games and methods from martial arts to let you experience what works and what doesn’t. So not just talking but foremost lots of doing.

Depending on the theme, you may be given a homework assignment in preparation for the next lesson.

Topics to be covered:

There are two types of  courses:

  1. Learning the basic skills
  2. Intergrating the basic skills

When learning the basic skills you’ll receive information about themes regarding breath and voice work, standing firm and using your eyes.

While in the integrating course the themes depends on the composition of the group.

Each participant receives an intake beforehand, by telephone or online if in person is not possible.
The themes are determined on the basis of this inventory.

Examples of themes: setting boundaries, recognizing and acknowledging feelings and emotions, using breath/voice strength, standing firm, experiencing one’s own strength, eye contact, etc….

How often? 5 one-hour-and-an-half meetings.

Group Size:
A maximum of 10 participants, so that there is sufficiënt space for personal attention.

A new course starts on Friday March, 24th 2023.
Five sessions: March 24, 31, April 14, 21, 28, 2023.
Time 6:30 PM – 8:00 PM.

Where: The JYM Movement, Haarlemmer Houttuinen 519, 1013 GM Amsterdam
